The lovely weather couldn’t last all autumn, really.
Spending more time indoors. Lovely halloween visit from some friends, though I was very under the weather with a cold that day.
Also Sal dropped by to play some tunes with Craig, which was nice.
We finished the window frame.
But the high winds last night took down the tarp for all practical purposes, so we took down the rest of it. At least it’s relatively dry, so when time and weather permits, I’ll fold it up ready for its next role.
Finished planing down the face of the wood ready for the direct glazing.
And are all ready to start the last little bit of scribing tomorrow.
In the rain.
Thinking back to sunnier times.
So here are some pictures from the week before.
18-21 November. Save the date.
With a fair wind of any kind (and with a lack of rain like we’ve had so far) we will be putting this building up starting on Weds 18 Nov and culminating in a party to celebrate the frame being up on Saturday 21 November. Please come and help us put the building up, if that sort of thing appeals to you, and please come and help us celebrate it being up by Saturday if you’ve got a proper job or some other reason not to be here for the building process.
Let me know if you’re coming so I can make some kind of attempt to feed everyone.
Tusk tenons and their mortises are much more interesting to cut, which also means they are much more difficult.
But we are getting the hang of it. Craig and his various measuring devices keep us on track.
And we are lucky to have welcomed Ben on the team this week, who has some experience with them, and with woodworking in general, and therefore took right to the whole process. Also he’s a lovely guy.
