{"id":3416,"date":"2019-05-03T18:59:53","date_gmt":"2019-05-03T18:59:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/donatedhouse.org.uk\/?p=3416"},"modified":"2019-05-03T18:59:53","modified_gmt":"2019-05-03T18:59:53","slug":"wood-storage-and-wildlife","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/donatedhouse.org.uk\/?p=3416","title":{"rendered":"Wood Storage and Wildlife"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here are some goings on.<\/p>\n<p>My solar wood kiln (basically a woodshed with a window for a front and a transparent plastic roof, solar gain, ventilated, etc = very dry wood very fast) is working fabulously, so now I need to empty it so I can fill it again at least twice over the summer. So I needed to sort out the wood storage area in the house.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3417\" alt=\"20190501_173711\" src=\"http:\/\/donatedhouse.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/20190501_173711.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"585\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Claying the walls was a good place to start. And then while that was taking FOREVER to even start to dry, even with a fan on it (good call to pre-dry the wood before it goes in here, I guess) I framed some slat walls out of some reclaimed timber (thanks again, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountdevelopments.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mount Developments<\/a>!) to make a giant wood holding pen.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3418\" alt=\"20190503_112352\" src=\"http:\/\/donatedhouse.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/20190503_112352.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"528\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Today I framed the last wall, built a coat and bag hanging area on the back of it, and trimmed and de-nailed all the rest of the slats for the back walls for when the clay ever dries, maybe in 6 weeks at this rate.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3420\" alt=\"20190503_145141\" src=\"http:\/\/donatedhouse.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/20190503_145141.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"587\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m pleased about the coat rack. I rifled around in all my old boxes of hardware junk and found a pleasingly mismatched set of hooks.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3421\" alt=\"20190503_145236\" src=\"http:\/\/donatedhouse.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/20190503_145236.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"817\" srcset=\"https:\/\/donatedhouse.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/20190503_145236.jpg 640w, https:\/\/donatedhouse.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/20190503_145236-501x640.jpg 501w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And while I was de-nailing, I looked up and saw a surprise visitor, one we&#8217;ve seen a few times in the garden lately. I think we should name him. I&#8217;m assuming him, based on the little antlers, but that might be wrong.
